In 2009 White Rose Saddlery celebrated 25 years of being the North of England’s leading supplier of racing and Point to Point equipment.
After a career in racing curtailed by ill health Chris Hoggard realised that there was a gap in the market for a specialist racing saddlers in Malton. With his extensive knowledge of racing Chris wanted to keep a connection there so White Rose Saddlery opened in 1984 supplying local trainer’s, jockey’s and stable staff with their requirements.
In 2007 the business relocated to a redeveloped part of a historic yard, ‘Wold House’ situated on the outskirts of Malton adjacent to the gallops. This move took Chris back to the yard where he started his apprenticeship in racing. The converted stables have provided the business with an excellent retail area and large workshop facilities. The parking is ideal making it easy for horseboxes to call in.
In 2009 we opened our ‘satellite’ shop at Beverley racecourse. This is conveniently situated near to the weighing room and serves the racing fraternity on race days.
White Rose Saddlery are proud sponsors of the ‘Yorkshire Area Point to Point Ladies Championship’ and attends many Point to Points in the Yorkshire area with the trade stand. We also sponsor National Hunt jockey James Reveley and supply him with his riding equipment throughout the season.
Sadly Chris passed away in 2009 and White Rose Saddlery now continues in his memory run by his wife Wendy.
Wendy is an apprentice trained Master Saddler and has worked behind the bench for over 25 years amassing a wealth of experience. A keen rider having ridden as an amateur jockey she is now competing in the eventing field.
White Rose Saddlery pride themselves on serving their customers with personal attention and expert knowledge, stocking a vast selection of specialist racing equipment from all over the world.
